Eden Valley Poultry and our staff are committed to the respectful, humane treatment of chickens and turkeys during all phases of transportation and processing. This responsibility, which we take seriously, is shared with our farmers and catchers, each of whom we hold to equally high standards of care. All Eden Valley Poultry employees are required to adhere to our Animal Care Policy and our Employee Animal Care Agreement. At Eden Valley Poultry, we have a zero tolerance for animal abuse. More importantly, we value the fact that these animals are an important part of the food supply to Canadians and they deserve our respect for the vital role they play.

We fulfill our commitment by:

• Providing comprehensive training on humane handling practices to our employees. • Ensuring that all employees adhere to the policies and procedures that comprise the Eden Valley Poultry Animal Care Policy, as well as the industry Codes of Practice for the Care and Handling of Poultry and all applicable Provincial and Federal legislation. • Enforcing a “zero tolerance” policy for any employee found in violation of humane care policies and applying appropriate disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. • Conducting internal audits to assess effectiveness of and compliance to the Humane Handling program. • Procuring our chickens from farmers that share our same high standards for animal welfare. • Procuring catching services from a company that commits to our high standard of animal care. • Working with research facilities and industry groups to ensure we are always improving our humane handling practices.
