Eden Valley Poultry Inc. (EVP) processes and markets chicken and turkey for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
farmers.
We are currently seeking a Temporary Controller for a 6-month term. The Temporary Controller will support the
Controller in the management and administration of the Finance Department including the preparation,
administration, and monitoring of monthly and annual financial statements, and planning, reporting, and providing
accurate information to the CFO. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Responsibilities
•
Coordinating and managing the full financial accounting operations.
•
Establishing and monitoring internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with
established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures.
•
Custodian of the ERP system, including master data, change requests, system maintenance, performance, and
enhancement.
•
Confirming that all month-end and fiscal year-end financial accounting duties and all resulting financial reporting is
completed in a timely and accurate manner.
•
Providing advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, policies, and
reporting.
•
Reporting to various companies and agencies including Canada Revenue Agency for HST and other tax items,
Statistics Canada, etc.
•
Setting priorities and performance standards within the accounting services team.
•
Completing year-end financial statements and schedules in preparation of the external audit.
•
Leading and coordinating all activities related to the year-end audit.
•
Keeping abreast of federal, provincial, and municipal developments, and laws and policies that may affect the
financial operations of the organization.
•
Continuous improvement of all processes within the accounting services team.
Qualifications
•
University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as
CPA (CA, CGA, CMA).
•
Five (5) years experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and fiscal management.
•
Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
•
Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms.
•
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications.
•
Managerial and leadership experience.
•
Able to work efficiently as part of a team, as well as independently.
•
Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
•
Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
•
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
